I do too.

happy thanksgiving to you, too, steve... thanks for all your clear, straightforward reporting and your invaluable insights, not to mention your dedication (blogging on lufthansa's wireless internet on the flight over the atlantic comes to mind)...
here's just a thought of what NOT to do to support our troops on Thanksgiving... :)

Is this your dog, Steve? Sure looks like a black lab to me...and it's having fun in the water too!
A beautiful dog! You wouldn't believe how much he looks like my Smokey. Anyway, hope you and Oakley both enjoyed some turkey.
Thanks to all of you. Nepeta, Oakley is real Weimaraner.
Other pics of him are at:

Woof!
Happy Thanksgiving to Steve, Oakley, and everyone else.
Thanks for the extra photos! He's a Weimaraner, all right...and absolutely beautiful!
Happy Thanksgiving Steve and thanks for all your hard work. Whether I agree or disagree with you on any particular issue (I do both) I always find your work informative and worth reading. Best wishes.
Thanks Paul and the rest of you -- but to Paul, I very much appreciate debate. We need more of it in the country. Some of those following TWN and the comments links may be surprised to know that some of my most regular email exchanges are with people who challenge my views -- and enjoy as I do -- principled debate and argument. All the best to everyone this week.

Steve,
I showed this picture to Morgan, our Golden Retriever.
I pointed out that here is Oakley doing an excellent
job of retrieving. Unfortunately, Morgan was
not swayed. He still only retrieves a ball because
he's genetically programmed to do so. You can
almost hear him say "please don't make me do it
again". Even Oakley's fine example was not enough
to effect a turnaround. Below is a picture of
Morgan.
Morgan the Reluctant Retriever
He is, of course, an ardent progressive puppy
(as long as he is not being bought off with pizza).

PS: Oakley is a fine name... Did it came from W.F. Buckley's novels?
Steve -- You hit the nail on the head when you say principled debate. To me that encompasses listening to what others say and in some cases being persuaded in whole or in part. What we need is alot more commentators who play the game the way you do as opposed to the reflexive insult-mongering that too often passes for debate. Best wishes. Paul.
