My name is Claire Brown and I'm a producer for INN World Report, one of only two TV news show with the guts to broadcast what is really happening in the Middle East, perhaps because we're completely viewer-sponsored so we don't have to answer to any corporate interest. We've invited Steve on the show but so far he's given no answer.

Yesterday and the day before we had on Professor John Mearsheimer, co-author of "The Israel Lobby & U.S. Foreign Policy" in a very rare interview. Professor Mearsheimer discussed "The Israel Lobby" paper as well as what is happening now in the Middle East. If anyone is interested go to our website.

Today we had on Jonathan Cook, a journalist living in Israel. Mr. Cook spoke about the fact, as reported in the U.K Guardian, that Israeli forces had actually gone into Gaza the day before the Shalit capture to capture suspected members of Hamas.

Should I repeat that - or do you get it? Israel did the first strike offense on capture in Gaza. Come to our website or watch our show if you want more info.

We have a president who wears a fake cowboy hat and boots and who thinks cliches are all that's needed for foreign policy, so yes some people get it, but not the ones that count. Sorry if I sound pessimistic but today's events are so sad.

Steve: The pace at which this ME blowup is proceeding is what catches my attention. Is it fair to say that a month ago or so we were hearing Abbas proposing something that might have contributed to peace: a referendum regarding the policies of Hamas toward Israel?

Secondly, in all this discussion regarding the kidnapping of Israeli soldiers, it seems that the shelling of Palestinians on the beach in Gaza is also a possible intentional provocative act. It just seems like all the parties were concerned what Abbas was proposing might have worked to some extent.

I am not advocating that the Israelis are the only bad guys. It just seems to me that a lot of players seem really eager for this leap toward a regional war. It also reminds me somewhat of a pre-WWI doomsday machine.

Well, I will attend to the under the radar little happenings ....maybe someone can figure out what this is going to cost us in additional fuel prices...

I can't figure out if this pentagon arranged fuel sale to Isr back in December for 94 million ..

And this bill confuses me also, it gives 20 million a year for 7 years in grants for research into alternative energy to split between Israeli and US private venture or Israeli and US academics, but it requires that the Israelis recieving the money "be in Israel", how odd, why would they say the Israelis "have to be operating in Israel"..and, huummm...does this mean if they come up with anything the Israelis side and the US side they team up with will be like our new OPEC of energy?
