No, it's not a disappointment. As a Virginia resident under Governors Warner and Allen, Warner was a great governor but he's not presidential material.

My preference was always that he challenge George Allen. Warner would have given Allen a much greater challenge as the more popular former governor and I think we'd be seeing a very different race, with the seat definitely going Blue.

Sorry for the off topic link but this is worth looking at, especially in regard to considering any Republican who just voted in favor of the Tribunals bill as a potential Prez.

It contains excerpts from a brief filed for Jose Padilla last week, from the Arguments section detailing the torture used against him by the Bush Admin over the last 3 1/2 years. Guilty or not, this is serious stuff as he is an American citizen arrested on US soil.

Folks, every single Republican I know feared Mark Warner in a general election. He would have been an extremely tough candidate to beat. These same folks were (are) praying that Hillary gets nominated which I think is a pretty stupid thing to do.
Hillary has a 20% chance of winning a general election and that is 20% too much for me. If she is nominated - and I hope she is not - we are going to absolutely eviscerate her and her sociopathic fake husband in a general. I am for John Edwards for the Demo nomination, even though he does channel unborn babies in the courtroom.
Hillary's greatest weakness is with WOMEN contrary to the hype - once we educate swing women voters in OH, FLA, PA, MO how the Clintons have personally violated so many people, violated so many WOMEN, the Hillary campaign is going down in flames. Lawyers vote to condemn Govt's treatment of Hicks
A national convention of Australian lawyers has condemned the Federal Government's treatment of Guantanamo Bay detainee David Hicks.

The annual convention of the Australian Lawyers Alliance, which has more than 2000 members, is under way on the Gold Coast.

Perth QC and human rights lawyer Tom Percy says the meeting has unanimously carried a motion calling on the Government to quickly get Hicks to trial or allow him to come back to Australia.

"I would be hoping that branches and law societies around Australia would be passing similar motions so that the Government can be left under no misapprehension the Australian legal fraternity is completely appalled at what the Government is doing about David Hicks," he said.

"We will be sending a notice of that motion to the Attorney-General, the Prime Minister and Minister for Justice."

Mr Percy says the unanimous motion sends a strong message to the Government.

"They might sit up and think that if there is a body that represents something like 2000 lawyers nationally from all states of Australia that unanimously want to condemn the Government over its handling of the matter, that is a matter of some concern," he said.
