The AIPAC cheering just became deafening. Why don't we just declare Ohlmert as POTUS, and be done with it?

Democrats are so divided. There are men and women, people from the North, South, East and West, Jews and Christians on that list. The honeymoon is over.

This list just about doubles as a roster of Senate Democrats who are not either chairmen of full committees (except for Bingaman), running for President (except for Clinton) or newly elected as of last week. This isn't just senior management plus middle management, it is little management as well.

And is there a definition somewhere of the difference between the Outreach Committee and Committee Outreach? I thought Sen. Bingaman might be in charge of outreach to committees (including the Outreach Committee), while Sen. Stabenow takes on the heavy burden of directing outreach in general (including Committee Outreach). This may be all wrong, but it's nice to think of all these Senators reaching out to one another. Clearly a new day has dawned on the north side of the Capitol.

Nothing has changed. New Dem leadership is under the firm grip of "foreign power" and will play into their fear-mongering tactics in pushing U.S. into another illegal war.

It does look as if quite a few hard liners on Isr/Pal and Iraq/Iran are on the list.

I was encouraged to see this yesterday:..thinking it might be a signal that that the Dems were about to start considering the Isr/Pal and Iran issue according to US interest..

"Politicians from the Democratic Party said they wanted to speak to Olmert about his comments on the Iraq war before responding publicly, but said they were uncomfortable with the comments. If Olmert planned his remarks and intended them to come out as they did, a Democratic official said, then they are not acceptable and can be seen as an attempt to influence the American political dispute."

But alas, upon digging deeper, it appears this was a only warning shot the over the bow of AIPAC that they better throw their weight behind the Dems from here on and pony up to cover the Dem's campaign expenses or else...

I think you'd be hard pressed to prove that Israel pushed the US into war in Iraq. That gives Israel way too much credit and much more power than they have. It also turns Bush/Cheney into hapless puppets without wills or means of their own. Also wrong.

It does look like quite a few pro israel/Iran hawks on there.

I was encouraged to see the following yesterday:..thinking it might be a signal that that the dems were about to start making ME policy according to US interest..

Doesn't really matter. Stop and listen. The public has had a taste of blood and likes it. Even the progressives paused only a mintue to celebrate and then turned their glare on the Dems.
From now to 2008 will be "git 'em" time. And 2008 will be a cross the lines bloodbath for everyone if the public isn't satisfied...and of course we won't be.
