(Oakley the Amazing Weimaraner Not Thrilled with Clunky Blogs that Don't Load)

Last night, good friends of TWN managed the move of files and DNS of this blog to a new internet service host.

TWN will now have significantly more bandwidth and more stability of access for all readers. It's been disconcerting for many of you -- and especially me -- to log in and see just a white page, or partial page, or a page asking me to call the "billing department". These were mostly bandwidth-triggered problems we think, caused by the growth and popularity of TWN.

I want to thank Larry Glenn who has been selfless and vital in supporting the development of this blog -- and to thank my colleagues and friends Andrew Stinson and David Meyer for making the transition so apparently smooth.

The financial contributions, moral support, and political tidbits that many of you have sent me have also been exceptionally helpful in keeping this blog going. Thanks very much to all of you, from the smallest to the big. It helps.

OK -- back to work. Hopefully, we will be adding new functionality and features to the site in the near future, but most importantly -- no more white screens.

-- Steve Clemons

Congratulations, Steve: more bandwidth for TWN can only be seen as an unmitigated boon for the blogosphere!
But moving on to the really important question: IS Oakley related to the Wegman gang? - i.e. a royal descendant of Queen Battina - or just (like most Weimaraners) merely noble?

Posted by Steve Clemons, Jul 11 2006, 9:36AM - Link

Dear Jay -- Many have asked the same question. Oakley is both noble and a well-connected Weimaraner but doesn't put on airs. Not sure about a Wegman connection. I've been thinking of challenging Wegman with some Weimaraner Op-Ads ever since I saw one of his on the op-ed page of the NY Times. Oakley is far more informed than Wegman's pups about American grand strategy.

In any case, the blog seems to be working today!

Off to work,

Steve Clemons

Glad to see your blog moving up in popularity (isn't that what additional bandwidth requirements really says?). You're the straightest, most honest and fair blogger I've read. I'd hate to lose you to some billing department in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Keep it up, Mr. Clemons.

Hi Steve,

I'm glad to be able to access TWN again. I have a question for you. Have you ever considered putting an "Oakley Gallery" on your site? He's just so darn cute and makes my day every time I see him.

I,m relieved that you got bigger tubes, because your blog has been a tad slow lately. Now, could you please get that dog a bigger chair? Sometimes they like to stretch out. He looks like he's flying coach class on an airline.
