Folks, I have been off of email and the cell phone for five days as the ability to get on email was just too ridiculously expensive and difficult in Havana. I paid $8.00 to get to one unimportant email out of many hundreds.
Now, a storm has shut down travel up north, and I'm stuck in Miami -- probably flying to Charlotte in the morning. After that, I'm most likely driving a car from Charlotte to D.C. -- so I won't be online tomorrow either.
When I recover and get organized, I'll begin to get into some very interesting subjects.

We flew into Charlotte from Mexico last Saturday -- ok, it was Sunday by the time we picked up our car and drove off to Virginia, between the delays in Mexico and Charlotte. The Customs computers were down, and six international flights were backed up. It was not fun. Anyway, the storm is gone now, and getting a connecting flight to DC would seem to make more sense (depending on who is picking up the tab); its a good 6 1/2 - 7 hour drive time to DC from Charlotte. Steve, you probably won't even see this until you're home but I think I'd make some noise about getting a flight to DC.
Sounds like Havana was interesting. Lookin forward to the reports.

Consider yourself lucky to be "stuck" in warm sunny Miami(art deco, South Beach yeah man) It's icy rain freezin up here!
If you're bored in Charlotte, call up Tommy Tomlinson at the Charlotte Observer. He's their award-winning columnist. been nominated for a Puu..litzer. That's it. Great writer, excellent insight. Wouldn't want you to be bored, or un-moored, in Charlotte.
How are the drinks in Miami? Are the drinks there expensive? Seems like in theory anyway, Miami wouldn't be such a bad place to be stuck in. Surely couldn't be as bad as being stuck in say, Baghdad.
Lines of 200 people long are lousy in Alaska or Miami -- doesn't matter. Have changed course and am now flying to Charleston, WV and either driving -- or going there to Pittsburgh and then DC. It's been a couple of tough travel days.

Long lines suck to be sure but the level of stress felt is all in our perception of them. Even when things don't go as planned, they're still going with the Higher plan. Perhaps you'll encounter a Divine connnection of some sort that might help you later down the road. Just sayin...
While we are on the subject of irrelevant and mindless chitchat, perhaps we should include Senator McCain's latest contribution to the embarrassing nature of Washington politics. With assholes like Rudy or McCain actually being touted as Presidential material, it is helpful, once in a while, to present the ugly face of reality to the American people. One day, in the future, perhaps our Fourth Estate will once again rise to the task. But until then, unfortunately, we are forced to rely on the blogosphere to present us with the facts. And even then, we are left wanting. Case in point, Clemons' and Paul's total silence on Hagel's conduct in the ES&S issue, as well as his past voting history, which places him about four miles up Bush's rectum. But anyway, heres McCain in all his embarrassing glory......

(I certainly hope that "Brian" was able to recall McCain's position, for it would be a damned shame if he lost it and couldn't find it, wouldn't it now? If McCain is elected to the Presidency, I hope Brian comes with the deal. After all, SOMEONE will need to remind the blathering idiot what his position is.)
Well, better to be stuck in Miami in March than say Maine.
