Berlin_0707 116.jpg

I have been catching up with paperwork and stuff since returning from Europe. Here's a picture of me with a cute, two-month old Weimaraner named Hugo and his young owner that I crossed paths with in Berlin.

Hugo looks like having his picture taken isn't his favorite thing.

That`s great. Where have you been in Europe? Germany too? Greetings from Berlin

The Weimaraner that lived across the street from us when I was a kid nearly gave me a juvenile heart attack. I looked up and saw it carrying our 3 month old kitten in its mouth. When I looked closer, the kitten was curled up quite happily and Weimaraner was transporting it around the front yard....

Suffice to say, pets rather sort out our turbulent world. As for the Bush legacy, does "Benedict Rides Again" ring any bells?
It is amazing and upsetting that high Treason is no longer prosecuted with the full weight of the law.
Your German friends have resonated sentiment shared with many who remember the Post VietNam economy of the Carter era. High interest rates and a struggling economy of measure were admired by pensioniers with CD's in the double digit zone and shunned by the rest of the retail and manufacturing sector..tight money...at high interest.
Those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it.
Sage advice; shift your portfolio to British Pound Sterling based funds and Deep Natural Gas Drilling and of course, Exxon Mobil, BP etc...
Stateside, HealthCare, Chocolate Chip cookies and Financial Services all the while Caveat Emptor as this is only my opinion, expressed for my use to be viewed by anyone at their own risk....Peace Out, buy canned goods and a generator that runs on ethanol...jf Wisconsin

Steve,

Looking at puppy pictures is entirely preferable to contemplating the sins and transgressions of our current administration (and more fun than paperwork!). I've just spent too much time on the net looking at breeds, and am now thinking I'm going to have to move if I want that Carpathian Sheepdog - Florida is much too hot. Mr. C., it's all your fault.

Cheers!

Steve, remember when you contemplated going on the NeoNutzi cruise with John Bolton? Here's an account by a mole on board.

http://news.indpendent.co.uk/world/americas/article2756...

By weird fluke, as I was reading this, Turner Classic Movies was showing "Ship of Fools" in the background.

Aren't you glad you passed on the cruise?

On another fun topic, Dr. Susan Block has written a great piece, The Senator and The VEEP http://counterpunch.org/block0712207.html

I never thought I'd be thanking God for a pornographer, but sure as shooting, I am so grateful to Larry Flynt for helping us rid the beltway of hypocritters.

Keep it up Larry. Pardon the pun.

Hi,

Your blog makes an excellent addition to my other reading. Thanks.

Very refreshing to see photos of Annie and Oakley between commentary on the serious issues we face. (this little german pup is sweet, too)

There are so many important issues facing people, but this photo brings to mind the ridiculous fact that in the eyes of US law, animals are considered property--like a couch or chair--with no rights and almost no legal protections. Brains, nerves, emotions and desires should count for something.

Despite plenty of public support, the "animal protection" laws on the books are mostly for show, because as legal "property," animals and their representatives have no standing to get into court.

(Ironic that even corporations are considered legal persons in the eyes of the law)

I think this will change as the public becomes more aware of the facts.

Cheers,
aj

....asks "is it true dogs can go in the stores in europe?"

My experience in Germany was that they were more amenable to taking a dog in restaurants than taking a child!
