I don't have a crush on Barack Obama -- though a slug of my friends do. Here's the latest on the political crush front from Obama Girl:

hagel book twn.jpgI only wish I had met Amber Lee Ettinger last year and had gotten her to try out "Hagel Girl" first.

History might be different today. Hagel might have been at the top of the ticket -- and Obama in as VP. Wow.

By the way, Chuck Hagel's new book is officially out TODAY and is actually really good. No kidding. It's very well written and packed with insights into the political turmoil surrounding post-9/11 politics. Hagel makes very clear that he regrets his vote in favor of the Iraq War resolution.

I'm 3/4 through it now -- it's a quick read, and full of all the reasons why Hagel (and Joe Biden actually) ought to be in the next President's cabinet.

I will offer more serious commentary on Hagel's book when I get time to think and write -- but it's well worth the read. . .and I typically hate the majority of these kind of political memoirs.

Steve, it's clear that you have a crush on Hagel! LOL! I really enjoy your blog, when you are serious and when you are whacky.

Thanks, from several of your student admirers at Washington College.

Isn't there anyone who voted against the AUMF for whom you could develop a crush and advocate a cabinet position?

1. david brooks, a clinton supporter has great nytimes article today...

2. Clinton spokesman carville shares a bed and bank account with Iraq lie arcitect---does this make him Benedict Arnold?

3. kamikaze mission continues with no chance of winning while mr 100 year war's approval rating soars....people please open your eyes and accept the math....

4. Anyone notice the support from real repubs recently for BO?

I agree. Biden, Dodd, and other Democrats are prime material for cabinet positions. I wish John Edwards would get the AG post and clean out all the incompetent evangelicals Bush/Ascroft installed. We have enormous talent in the Party and whoever is president, I hope they put that talent to use.

This nation, in its current state, needs the best and brightest at work.

I'm smitten with Obama, and it is embarrassing to say I can relate to every word that Obama Girl lip-synchs!

Hagel's okay and it would be cool if he were in a cabinet position--but not one dealing with domestic policy--his tax and pro-corporate policies are not progressive, imho.

Biden, Clinton, Dodd, Edwards, and Hagel all voted for AUMF.

Why not have a crush on the 23 members of the Senate who voted right the first time when it mattered?

Hillary on why she exaggerated the dangers she encountered in Tuzla: "I was sleep-deprived, and I misspoke."

So much for waking HER up at 3 am...

P.S. What a dumb thing to say.

"david brooks, a clinton supporter has great nytimes article today..."

David Brooks is a Clinton supporter? The David Brooks who led the right-wing crazies on the Wall Street Journal editorial page and was a senior editor at The Weekly Standard? That David Brooks?

Brooks is among those who have long argued that they actually got the war right, but Donald Rumsfeld made it wrong. In other words, war good, Rummy bad. He has emphasized that he and many of his fellow pundits had it right at the time in urging more boots on the ground. They were "prescient," he relates. But Rumsfeld and his crowd "got things wrong, and the pundits often got things right."

He never cites any of his own views at the time, obviously hoping that readers will place him among those pundits that "got things right." And also: please forget that he was a strong supporter of the invasion to start with.

In fact, he bears special blame -- or shame, if you will -- not only for his writing, but for serving as senior editor of the most influential (inside the White House) pro-war publication, The Weekly Standard, headed by Bill Kristol, who has been even more consistently wrong on the war, yet rewarded with a prestigious New York Times slot.

Hagel's prediction that the Surge would just leave us mired deeper in the Iraq mess is seen to have been prescient in light of recent events.

OBAMA GIRL CONFIRMS THE TREND:

There is absolutely no doubt that the hotter chicks support Obama and not Hillary Clinton. I found this out first hand canvassing for Ron Paul.

The Hillary supporters were often mean, old noxious and nasty, just like their candidate. The Obama folks, if not always hot and sexy, were pleasant and agreeable.

God bless Obama girl. She is absolutely gorgeous- what a stunning brunette; maybe it is because she has not spent her entire life demonically obsessed with politics and the pursuit of power. Perhaps the key to happiness is reading Cosmopolitan Magazine and shaking your booty on the internet for Obama.

Let's put it this way, I would much rather see Obama girl at 3AM than Hillary Clinton under any and all circumstances.

I think a lot of voters intuitively know this.

Obama girl has had more than her 15 minutes, that
is fine. However, why didn't she vote when she had
the opportunity?
