Except my dog is a mixed up, left wing terrier mutt, and Steve's are elite, out-of touch, purebred Beltway socialites, and enablers of Republican perfidy.

My dog is a cur as well, Dan. An Australian Shepard and German Shepard mix. Damn thing is smarter than I am, and twice as fast of foot. A bad combo as a puppie, as far as training goes. But undoubtedly will prove to be assets as he matures.

I'm thinking about teaching him to eat anyone displaying an '04 Bush/Cheney bumper sticker.

I had a half dachshund/half beagle who was the fastest, smartest dog I have ever known. We calculated that he had an actual vocabulary of about 120 words, and I'm quite sure that as long as there was plenty of food involved, he would have happily and capably manned Sputnik. He would have eaten anyone or anything displaying a Bush/Cheney '04 bumper sticker, provided I smeared a little chicken or ham fat on it (we did control his diet, much to his dismay). He once chewed up an aluminum Budweiser can I foolishly left beside the lawn chair. Dad had corrupted him giving him sips of Heineken's on the municipal dock at Cedar Key before I intervened. Had that dog for nearly nearly sixteen years, and his compatriot, a miniature dachshund who was quite sure she was a smarter reincarnation of Cleopatra, for seventeen years.

That was good, Dan. That kind of chuckle goes a long way, especially in these insane times.

Well Dan, between you, myself, Steve, and Dan we have a pack of dogs whose combined IQ eclipses that of Bush, Cheney, and four of their top advisors.

Speaking of Bush, and dogs, have you been following this piece of shit Johnson's flip-off to Congress, the American people, and a Supreme Court order?

I post it here in the hopes that Hillary and Obama have campaign staff monitoring this blog, and that they can carry word back to Hillary and Obama that they can quit fuckin' us over with bullshit issues, and start doing the jobs we pay them to do. They can start by demanding the arrest of this criminal Johnson. They need to know that not all of us are engaged in their pathetic little circle jerk, and that a good many Americans ARE paying attention to their dereliction of duty and their failure to abide by their Oaths Of Office.

Again, EPA Asserts Executive Privilege against Embarrassment

EPA chief Stephen Johnson has deployed a variety of methods to thwart Congressional scrutiny. There's been old fashioned stonewalling. Testimonial gobbledygook. And of course fleeing the hemisphere.

But there's another recurring method: refusing to turn over internal EPA documents because they would "confuse" the public. Back in January, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) wanted documents that show Johnson ignored his staff when he blocked California's attempt to institute tough greenhouse gas limits on cars and trucks. The EPA said no, in part because "further disclosure could result in needless public confusion about the Administrator's decision." In other words, EPA experts said one thing and Johnson had said another. You can't have that getting out (even though it did).

Staffers from the Senate environmental committee, which Boxer chairs, were finally able to see the documents, but only in EPA offices, and only then after peeling off layers of white tape which the EPA had used to redact the offending portions of the documents.

Now the House global warming committee is after Johnson for his agency's failure to comply with a Supreme Court decision that declared that the EPA had to regulate greenhouse gases. Chairman Ed Markey (D-MA) issued a subpoena for documents that show that the EPA had complied with the Court last December. EPA staff completed work on the matter (as they've told Congressional investigators), but the political leadership has been sitting on it since then.

But Johnson, who's deployed a succession of transparent delaying tactics to avoid regulating greenhouse gases, doesn't want to fork them over. His associate administrator writes:

"...EPA has grave concerns relating to the Committee's subpoena. In particular, we are concerned that the release of the deliberative, pre-decisional documents that do not reflect the Agency's final thinking would be injurious to important Executive Branch institutional prerogatives: such release may have a chilling effect on further deliberations in this and other matters; it may create erroneous impressions of the Agency's thinking; and it may raise questions about the Agency having reacted in response to, or having been influenced by, proceedings in a legislative or public forum outside the established administrative process."

The President has made clear that he doesn't want to see stricter mandatory limits on greenhouse gases anytime soon. If California was able to have its strict limits (standards that would also be adopted by more than a dozen other states), or if the EPA were to obey the Supreme Court and follow the Clean Air Act, it would result in a "regulatory nightmare." In other words, lower limits on greenhouse gas emissions. And the EPA is clearly doing everything it can to fight such an outcome.

I sat down yesterday and ate lunch with a latino, a Mexican gardener that was trimming trees at a high end remodel I am working on in Bakersfield near the Country Club. This remodel is extensive, and has been going on for some time now. I have come to know a few of the groundskeepers on a first name basis. This particular worker is an admitted illegal, no green card. He has worked here in the United States for over a decade now, and supports his family, who are also here illegally, with his earned wages.

The interesting thing is, he also maintains two rental properties, that he owns, in Tecate, Mexico. Interesting why? Because he spends his weekends there, in Tecate.

So, while Steve is pulling his shoes off at the airport, and citizens at LAX are being subjected to camera imagery that can tell the examiner whether or not you have a wart on your right ass cheek, and this fucking albatross the DHS is figuring out how to spell "facism" with a capital F, our borders are no more secure than they were on 9/10/2001. This fellow literally walks across our Southern Border, illegally, twice a week, and has been doing so for over a decade.

So, you tell me. Why does our government feel the need to perpetrate this SCAM called the "Global war On Terror" on the citizens of the United States? What are they prepping us for?

Politics of distraction.... Putting your two posts together into a coherent story could be fun! Something about how it would just be too confusing to explain our border policy or to note that there's no such thing as real security, or a real security threat. The enemy is faked, the response is faked, someone makes money selling solutions to fake problems. The feminist lit on the cosmetics industry speaks nicely to this issue! Wonder if Neal Bush sells airport equipment part-time? (He sells elementary school reading material in keeping with NCLB.)

In five words, this describes the current situation in American politics. The rich and powerful and their lackies run the caravan and let everyone else bark--to a point. They even promote their own bark-fest on TV, carefully limiting the yapping to politically acceptable howling.

If you sniff up in the right spots, bark up the right trees, and learn to heel ostentatiously, you might even get promoted to Prime LapDog Minister, like the pride of Britain--Tony B-liar.

How do you get them to sleep on the cushions / dog beds? My dog is afraid of them. Also, does each dog identify with and sleep on its very own "bed," or do they just sleep on whichever bed is available? Henry.

Speaking of dogs, how about Darth on Darth??? Dick's Schtick was rather humorous. I thinks it's interesting that he 's still thinking about being called Darth...it's the second time he's mentioned it to the press... I think it does deep down bug him..teeheee. His ending was rather ominous.. leaving the top of the press with the same advice he gave to Senator Leahy.. someone with that much indifference to public opinion has something up his sleeve. So what else is new?

Love the dogs. Three is a big step up, though Steve. I have three big mutts and taking them all for a walk can get a bit hairy (no pun intended).

Can't say my dogs are anything special, but when I tell my smallest to "go Cheney" she runs outside and poops.

Steve I see where you get your spiritual uplifting..Balancing out the toxic cloud generated by your professional endeavours appears that a need for three dogs is necessary in your home environment to "cope" with the Orwellian stench clinging to your person after foreign policy seminars. If you get a fourth, it will signal to me, a more grim foreign policy future for our country.
