I am so saddened to hear of Senator Obama's grandmothers passing. I feel as though I know her after hearing Senator Obama speak so often and lovingly of her. She has indeed raised an exceptionaly fine man, and I know she died very proud of her grandson. I'm sure she will be looking down from heaven tomorrow to watch him go from Senator to President. God bless the family and may peace and love fill your hearts.

As with all of the readers of TWN, our condolences to the relatives of Ms. Dunham and to Barack Obama who would have liked to have passed his finish line with his grandmother seeing him do it in this world.

The best thing people can do to honor the memory of Obama's grandmother today is to call the local campaign, especially in battleground states, find the nearest staging location, and volunteer.

The GOTV (Get out the Vote) campaign will go on until the last person in line votes. We are not allowed to talk to voters about preferences or their votes or even indicate that we are for Obama, but we will be there to encourage people not to leave the lines--handing out bottled water, energy bars, chips, apples--helping amuse kids their parents brought, helping older and disabled people to the head of the line (Laws differ but most states have provisions for this.)

I am very sorry for the loss of your grandmother. She had a very special request to ask of God and the only place she could do it was with God to ask in person. Cherish her memory. Sincerest condolences. I just lost my father and I feel some of your pain. My prayers are with both you and your family.
