Ok, maybe I just don't get it. But I suspect Sarah Palin is going to be distinctly old news by 2012. She represents an era of folksy redneck anti-intellectualism that I think is going to be dying out even among Republicans. One may like Obama's politics or not, but it's pretty clear that from a purely cultural point of view Americans are being drawn in to a new Camelot era of class, brains and dignity, and I suspect Republicans are going to have to look to answer with some more cognitively well-equipped and culturally sophisticated conservative of their own.

And Palins looks won't stay forever either. That wouldn't be important if she had more substance. But she doesn't, so it matters. By 2012, Sarah Palin will be a supermarket tabloid personality giving interviews about her diet tips and her family affairs.

Sarah Palin is determined and shameless. She doesn't seem very
smart, but that never stopped Ronald Reagan. In a few years, she
may be forgotten or she may be a force to be reckoned with. My
money is on "forgotten", but I have room for doubt.

Like all the babel and hollow promises bruted by the gop, Sarah Palin talks about "reform", "a bright future for America", "freedom, "integrity", energy independence", "health care" and "education" on TV, - but Sarah Palin like the gop actually promotes and advances policies that undermines, countermines, restricts, subverts, and perverts all these ends. Talk is cheap. Deeds are what measures a true leader, and Ms Palins deeds are woefully lacking.

None of this will matter anyway if Obama and the democratic congress manage to allay or minimize or in a perfect world improve on, or surmount any of the horrorshow crisis heaped upon thier laps by the criminals, pathological liars, wanton profiteers, and lawless unprincipled brutes in the bushgov and the gop. If Obama and the democrats succeed in any way in improving these crisis, particularly in the nightmare that is our economy - the gop can run Jeb, or Sarah, or the ghost of Ronald Reagan and they will still be soundly defeated.

Sarahpac a pathetic and telling proof of just how hollow, lost, leaderless, unprincipled, and outoftouch the gop is at this moment after eight years of tyranny, perversions, betrayals, treason, wanton profiteering, and lawlessness under the dragons wing of the bushgov.

Goodluck wingnuts.

So after all the ‘Hotspur’ searing critique of the liberal intelligentsia and its adulators of the Bush-Cheney nefarious deeds in foreign affairs and the hurricane-like damage done to the political and cultural landscape of the United States, Americans now will not judge Obama according to his politics in repairing this great damage—as what else one can deduce from “One may like Obama’s politics or not”—but from a “purely cultural point,” i.e., by the miraculous powers of Obama to bring the Second Coming of Camelot.

Kervick, with his past fear of Palin, whose speech in the Republican Convention rattled him so much that forced him to write half a dozen posts in one stream of TWN after her speech, and in his inveterate hate of her, is oblivious of the obvious fact that if President Obama FAILS to deliver on his political promises of change and the ‘Renaissance’ of America then his Camelot will be a wet dream, if not an angel flying in the sky.

In the liberal worldview assertions are the truth, everything else is hateful opposition to the agenda. All those who oppose the agenda are evil. There are no facts other than what proves the assertion, all else is misinterpreted or irrelevant data. The agenda determines the assertion, the assertion is the truth and only the relevant facts support the assertion. Anyone who attempts to subvert the truth of the assertion is evil and their minds are full of hate. Thus forms the perfect circle of liberal thought, the agenda, the truth and the relevant facts. If you are a lawyer reading this, you know why the American system of law has nothing to do with justice, the perfect circle is drawn by the line of argument.

Those who disrespect Gov. Palin are only disrespecting themselves. If there were a compilation (and there may be somewhere) of all the unprecedented vitriolic slander directed at this absolutely charming intelligent and RESPECTFUL woman, it would deserve a place of honor in a Hall Of Shame.
I have come to the conclusion that certain types of people need scapegoats and sacrificial victims to satisfy some kind of atavistic sadism that compels them to attack what is beautiful and good. Any NORMAL human being, would be able to see that Sarah Palin is a Queen among women and among politicians, and agree or disagree with her policies and positions, afford the high respect that is her DUE, that she DESERVES, for her honest work on behalf of the American People and her lifelong efforts to live in a loving, intelligent and moral life..

You confuse hate kotsabasis with a focus on facts. Palin is a creation of the Rovian disinformation and propaganda covens; a guntoting, biblethumping, goodlooking female wingnut, and oil and energy oligarch appeaser, with no viable experience in the national arena, no foreign policy expertise, and no expertise or understanding of the complexities of economics.

There is no hate here. There is simply the questioning of why Sarah Palin was chosen out of all the viable candidates, what exactly are Ms Palins policies, and what exactly qualifies Ms Palin to imagine she should or could be considered as a viable candidate for the leader of the free world. If you care or dare to address or respond to any of those issues, then let's chat. If not then you are only perpetuating the same gop babel of "agree with us and honor and bow to our candidates" or you are insane, conspiratorial antiAmerican idiots and spawn of the devil gibberish bruted by Rove and his propagandists and disinformation warriors. Stick to the epic issues at stake, and quit the senseless, inane, utterly fruitless focus on personality.

Palin, like bush is an empty suit. A hollow creation of the gop propaganda and disinformation covens targeting specific demographics in the electorate. What are her policies? What are her accomplishments? What is her vision for America? Why would anyone vote for Sarah Palin in 2012?

Answering these questions will unmask the joke that is Sarah Palin, - and you can continue sliming every one else if you want for pointing out the obvious facts and truth, - but you do not offer any meaningful retort or response as to why Ms Palin is now or will be in the future, a viable candidate for President of the United States of America, - beyond her obvious wingnutsia credentials.

Let the games begin, and - good luck!

TonyForesta

You turn out to be a ferocious 'bull' and I've to turn myself into a matador to "dare" to confront you. But my temperament prohibits me to "chat" with someone who throws a bucketful of emotional cliches, "guntoting", "biblethumping", and personal abuse which reveals your bitter personality.

And when "the games begin" you won't have any "good luck."

Nice comments there, and quite incisive as to Palin's larger
meaning and danger.

I'd simply like to point out that the graphic design of her logo
seems to suggest the hollowing out of the middle of America
with an Alaska-sized hole. And where is Hawaii, also? Perhaps
it has been deaccessioned due to the pervasive Muslin
influences harbored there in times past.

The use of the State of Alaska in the logo is interesting. It's
asking us to attribute to the candidate all of the qualities we
might associate with the physical state and its residents. I'm not
sure I've ever seen a national candidate trade so heavily on their
state, or ask voters for their votes substantially on that basis.

I'm glad for Palin to stay in the public's focus and to start
running so hard, so early. It's unseemly, and it will make sure
that the public is thoroughly tired of her come the primaries.
Plus, there's all that golden entertainment value that she and her
family produce fo copiously, so effortlessly, also. Moosolini,
indeed.

Sorry you are so misled to believe that this sounds like Obama. Oh, my mistake it sounds like his campaign rhetoric for CHANGE. Now we are stuck with 4 more years of Clinton cabinet. Govenor Palin is as qualified as any other gov who was president i.e. liberals Carter and Clinton. As for biblethumping - this is much preferrd over cigarlickin' head thumpers in the Oval office. Your memory is short. My comment ends with a question: Are you people so worried about a Palin ticket running against your candidate in 2012 that you express your insecurities with stupid insults?? You have good cause to be worried... 1/2 of America that voted (without the help of ACORN or the novice uneducated) wants conservative measures applied!

Posted by DonS, Jan 28 2009, 10:07AM - Link

DK, "folksy redneck anti-intellectualism" is pretty much de rigueur in my neck of the woods, topped off by a longstanding and pugnacious dose of “Christian” millennialism, But you may be right, and really what might emerge to carry the thug banner is a updated “intellectual” model of a culture warrior.

The "looks" thing with Sarah is definitely a factor, a was a factor. My wife has similarly noted that the looks won't last. And for those who find in this a shallow accusation, think about it. What place 'should' physical attributes have in determining a leader? Sarah perfected the TV anchor, barbie chic, fluff head look/presentation. What a recommendation. As if its not hard enough to deconstruct rhetorical BS with politicians, throw in the made-for-TV ready looks (male or female) as an additional distraction. Now tell me I'm being sexist. The poor girl can't help it, she's just damn sexy, but at heart she's a boiling policy wonk just waiting to explode.

this absolutely charming intelligent and RESPECTFUL woman,

Is this a joke? This Neiman Marxist made the secret service work harder after her comments increased threats to Obama.

I read today that all of those clothes haven't been donated either.

I can't wait to see the new versions of her pac site with the headless turkeys and wounded moose staggering around.

Interesting to watch all these commenters popping up from
nowhere whenever Steve mentions Sarah Palin.

Perhaps her "franchise" should create an organization as well,
headed by Kotzabasis, and with Tahoe serving as Secretary...

Good point Paul Norheim. The wingnut propaganda and disinformation covens rush out bullet points to thier lockstep constituents in redneckAmerika whenever questions are raised about Palins qualifications who quickly respond with the kind ridiculous babel we see above. Notice there is no discussion of issues, or policies, or solutions - just blind adoration and glorification of the cult of personality. I hope the gop does push Palin in 2012. She, like the gop has nothing to run on beyond the Limbaughspeak babel of redneckAmerika who hate their fellow Americans for questioning the issues and policies that would define the "Queen among womens" actual platform.

What a joke.

One of the largest indicators of how fucked up this country is becoming is the fact that this clueless bimbo Palin can actually be touted as leadership material.

It absolutely astounds me that there are people that are so incredibly ignorant that they would work to put Palin in the White House.

Pissed off Patricia over at Crooks and Liars "every time Sarah speaks we all feel smarter"

WHO cares what "intellectually superior" liberals (just ASK them!) "think"? These are the same morons and imbeciles (no disrespect to actual morons and imbeciles) who, after 74 years, can't figure out that social security is a SCAM!

See MY website:

http://www.socialsecurityisascam.com

Sarah Palin is going to mop the floor (not in a sexist way of course - only liberals would take that phrase that way!) with the democrap/lib/quasi-marxist that will run against her in 2012.

Liberals suck and have ruined this country. People like Sarah Palin and myself are a new generation of Conservatives who will use the "New Media" to turn the light on the pile of crap that is liberalism and then disinfect the country with a good dose of Conservatism.

Many libs are anti-more then one child, abortists, gay, etc., so they are a social and hence, a political, dead-end.

Libs win because it is EASY to be a liberal and more appealing to irreponsible young adults who still have their Mommy and Daddy to fall back on.

Being a Conservative is being responsible, self-reliant, and one who pays taxes and KNOWS how much the government confiscates from us for lousy vote-buying, pandering, programs.

As far as "Steve Clemons" goes:

At least this "counter-cultural" icon wears a suit and tie. He still looks like the smarmy, used-car salesman he probably is on the side...

it is amamzing to me that after the last 8 years of bushco republicanism, that anyone would knowingly want to vote for any member of the gop, much less the extreme right wing barbie doll palin.this is the woman that said we might have to go to war with russia during the georgian conflict last year, does potentially going to war with russia sound like a good idea to any one here? this is the woman who said that alaska would be a refuge for THE END OF DAYS!!THIS WOMAN SOUNDS CRAZY TO ME!what exactly are her policies how would the gop fix the broken economy?is any one here moronic enough to believe that the gop makes policies that are designed to help middle class americans?does sarah favor deregulation? i hope not.i hope obama,s policies fix our economy.i think they will, however it will take some time,m.r. obama inhereted this terrible mess from bushco,m.r. obama is intellegent, thoughtful and in my opinion a better leader than bush, palin, mccain or anyone else the gop could dredge up...obama,biden-2012!
