I am planning visits to all of the "surplus countries" in the next couple of weeks.
On Monday and Tuesday, I will be in Berlin speaking at one of the sessions of the "online forums" of the Transatlantic Dialogue sponsored by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
And then on May 18th, I'll be in Beijing. On the 23rd, in Shanghai.
On May 28th, I'll be in Tokyo -- which still matters.
On June 1st, I'll be going for a run in the late afternoon on the Mall between the Lincoln Memorial and the US Capitol in DC.
I'll be blogging and checking in the entire time.

If you see something over there in any of those countries you don't like, speak up and tell them how we do it better. Just because they have better public health systems, fewer people in prison and more money (any money) in the bank doesn't make them right. Besides, our army can beat their army, if they give us eight or ten (or more) years and lend us more money.
Let 'em know we're special. If they'd had any sense they would have been born in the USA.
Germany, China, Japan -- we fought them all and whupped them good. Oooops -- and now they're "surplus countries" while the US is deep, deep in the hole. How did that happen, with us being special and all?
Perhaps it's better if your were simply polite to our world neighbors since they understand our relative positions just as well as we do, or should.

Go, guy, and may the force be with you. Looking forward to your impressions. I do know from my Swiss banker friend that Europeans are pretty appalled by US Republican obstructionists. Also know that Swiss are not happy about how they are being dissed. Very curious about what impressions you get along these lines, and their relative importance.

US defeated PRChina in War? Kindly remind me of when where and how? As far as I can see, big wads of USD and tanks and American planes could not help Chiang Kai-Shek. Hey, at least UN forces kept South Korea intact. Total victory, is just too much to ask, eh.
