Media Alert in Sydney: Deborah Cameron Show at 8:05 pm EST

Well, I'm in Beijing -- and Deborah Cameron's big morning radio show is in Sydney and can be listened to here on Wednesday morning's Asia time -- or Tuesday evenings back where I usually am in Washington.

I will be on air in a few minutes -- as I am every week in Sydney, Australia -- discussing American politics.

This week, one of the big topics of discussion will be Barack Obama's appointment as US Ambassador to China Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr.

I generally think that this is a good move -- but on the other hand, the Chinese I am meeting this week have joked about how unusual it is for them to be receiving a person who can get them connected with the highest levels of the REPUBLICAN party during a DEMOCRATIC administration. And they joke that China's one-child policy will certainly get its share of implied criticism from Huntsman's 7 children -- and they note he got his Mandarin language training as a religious missionary.

All that aside, they are looking forward to working with Ambassador Huntsman.

Those Chinese, they probably think that there is a difference between Democrats and Republicans. But their jokes about China's one-party policy will be lost on some of us.

I would use some hip internet lingo to express how hard I just laughed, but that wouldn't make me look very smart. Should I learn Chinese or Arabic if I want to be a journalist with a minor in international business? Chinese huh...

"[T]he Chinese I am meeting this week have joked about how unusual it is for them to be receiving a person who can get them connected with the highest levels of the REPUBLICAN party during a DEMOCRATIC administration."

I don't know why, since for all intents and purposes Barack Obama is governing as a Republican lite.

Cato, he was brought up under Lieberman's wing for a reason.

More importantly, Iran's missile test.

Italy's Foreign Minister cancelled a trip.

Dunno why, his country helped lie us into the war with the Niger forgeries at the Vatican embassy. You really think Iran didn't play us into Iraq so they could take over with Shi'ite majorities?

Guess what- the aluminum tube lies go back to Italy, their navy supplied said armaments for conventional usage to Iraq, and probably Iran.

Oooops.

Guess hwat- the war gamin Iran won when a US Gen. played by their rules, the whole game just shifted radically in their favor.

"ROME (Reuters) – An Italian judge ruled on Wednesday to proceed with the trial of U.S. and Italian spies accused of kidnapping an Egyptian imam in 2003; Europe's highest-profile case over the secret transfers of terrorism suspects.

A Milan judge rejected a defense request to lift arrest warrants against the 26 Americans, most of whom are believed to be CIA agents, despite some of the evidence being made inadmissible by state secrecy rules.

The U.S. agents and seven Italians are accused of abducting Muslim cleric Hassan Mustafa Osama Nasr in Milan and flying him to Egypt. Nasr, who is also known as Abu Omar, said he was tortured under questioning and held for years without charges."
