Erich,

Looks lovely but could be Dante's ninth circle of Hell--but not the worst part as it's only a few feet of snow and ice--not up to anyone's neck.

Or it could just be a message telling everyone to just chill out a bit.

hi Linda-

"it could just be a message telling everyone to just chill out a bit."

In that case, we'll soon know how well DC listens.

But thanks for putting a positive spin on it.

It does look lovely.

(But not as lovely as against a NW blue sky, O'Keefe cliffs, chamisa mesas, or truchas pks.) ;-)

but now, as the snow comes down, perhaps keeping me from a Santa Fe meeting tomorrow, the sky here in Taos is also gray.

It's sunny in Atlanta, but that's probably because GA's official groundhog Beau disagrees with Phil up in PA. Beau lives in a cute little antebellum mansion with white columns in front:

"Fans of General Beau Lee, Georgia’s Official Weather Prognosticator, surrounded him this morning at the Yellow River Game Ranch in Lilburn. When the groundhog emerged from his stately mansion, it was 39 degrees and cloudy. Dr. Branson Ritchie of the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine declared that General Beau Lee did not see his shadow; meaning Atlanta could expect an early spring."

Beau can be found on YouTube is anybody who is snowed in and bored, snowed in, and wants to pass some time between morning talk shows and the start of Super Commercials.

So what's the problem?
A plow has gone by.
Ten minutes with a shovel,
and you're on your way.

Guess what?
This is normal in Minneapolis.

Dave Porter,
For a little perspective -- they used to delay the start of school in the DC area so that they could put chains on the bus tires -- for a quarter inch of snow that would be melted by 10 am.

They closed schools in anticipation of snow that never came.

There's somewhere around 30 inches of snow in a city below the Mason Dixon line.

But still, it's fun to beat up on 'em! So, yeah, go for it!
